This month's activities:
FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
Saturday, January 28, 2012
Mark your calendar for our Family Movie Night on Saturday, January 28th starting at 5:30 p.m. You are invited to enjoy a fun supper followed by the showing of a family friendly movie. Ask Tanya Clark, Bev Andre, or any other church council member for the title. Hint: It’s about a man and his penguins …
This fun evening is funded by the Christian Education fund.
Admission is a donation to Loaves and Fishes. Come for a fun night with family and friends!
These Family Movie Nights are usually held on the last Saturday of each month.
The Holly Fair was held at the Federated Church of Ayer. This year the fair was held on November 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Holly Fair featured our famous and delicious turkey luncheons. There were also other sandwiches and chowder available.
The very popular Chinese auction was again a huge success. There were themed baskets as well as gift certificates and other things to solve the holiday shopping list or a special something just for you. Many of these items were worth over $100 each.Crafts, decorations, desserts, candy and other tables were set up around Fellowship Hall.
There was also a 50/50 raffle which was drawn at the end of the day along with the Chinese Auction winning tickets.
The beautiful queen size quilt, handmade by the Material Aid group of the church, was won by Sue Knapper. Santa Claus was also present to talk to all the children.
Hope to see you at Holly Fair 2012!
Watch this website and local papers for the date!
The Material Aid Group
Material Aid is a group of women of the church who provide handmade goods for our Holly Fair and for sale at any other time of the year.
The group's history is long and varied. Exactly when it was first started is not known today, but it is known that women of the church were making things for veterans and troops during World War II and probably before.
The profits of these products help with church expenses and various missions.
The Material Aid Ladies currently invite you to join them on Thursday morning from 9:30 to noon.
If you enjoy sewing, machines are supplied as well as all the fabric, batting, stuffing, etc.
Or you can bring your own project to work on for the Holly Fair or sale at anytime.
The ladies have already started to work on a quilt to be raffled at the Holly Fair next November. This year's quilt will be queen size and in shades of blue and yellow.
Need a baby gift? Material Aid has many pieced and hand-tied quilts for you to choose from. They are reasonably priced at just $15. You may purchase these during their Thursday morning times above.
Other things available are table runners ($10), place mats ($3), pincher pot holders (which are really quite handy) ($3), and hanging kitchen towels.
All of the goods are top quality and carefully made.
